Fantastico!

Fantastico!

This jewellery collection was created for The Finnish National Gallery's Ateneum Art Museum shop for the duration of the exhibition Fantastico! - Italian Art from the 1920s and 1930s.

Fantastico! was quite simply a dream project for Fine van Brooklin. The exhibition showcased an artistic movement called magical realism, that had its origins in Italy towards the end of the First World War. It was clear to me from the start that since the exhibition pieces were from the 1920s and 1930s, I would search and gather jewellery materials dating back to the same era. Almost all of the beautiful glass beads used for this collection of three earring styles, two bracelets and one necklace are indeed previously unused vintage Art Deco beads.

The mysterious atmosphere and luscious, deep colours of the masterpieces by artists such as Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carrà, Felice Casorati, Antonio Donghi and Cagnaccio di San Pietro (see photo collage for some painting details) were an endless source of inspiration in creating the Fantastico! jewellery collection, making me also personally fall quite deeply in love with magical realism in the process.

Fantastico! was a limited edition and was made for and sold exclusively at the Ateneum museum shop during the Summer months of 2018.
